FOX SPORTS NET’S OPERATION: FIELD RESCUE FEATURING ADVANCED ASTROTURF PLAYING SURFACE TO DEBUT THANKSGIVING EVENING

Inner City Recreation Center Gets Makeover Including a State-of-the-Art GameDay Grass Field

The first episode of Fox Sports Net’s Operation: Field Rescue, a new hour long program themed on identifying youth sports facilities in disrepair and remaking them into top-notch sports centers, will air Thanksgiving Day, November 22 at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. (local) on FSN. Thursday’s episode focuses on the restoration of Philadelphia’s Gambrel Recreation Center, home of Pop Warner’s Frankford Chargers, the region’s most successful youth football team, and features the installation of a next-generation AstroTurf® field.

GeneralSports Venue (GSV), exclusive U.S. licensee of AstroTurf-branded products, provided the new 75,000 square foot AstroTurf GameDay Grass™ field which will provide the community and local sports participants with an innovative and engineered playing surface that is safe, durable and environmentally friendly.

Operation: Field Rescue is co-produced by Rick Horrow, a sports business analyst for Fox Sports and CEO of Horrow Sports Ventures, and Emmy-winning producer/director Phil Tuckett, a former NFL player and a 37-year veteran of NFL Films. Philadelphia Eagles legend Vince Papale (Invincible) and Fox Sports Net anchor Laura Okmin will serve as the show’s co-hosts.

To develop national interest in rescuing fields, recreation centers and other facilities, Horrow and Tuckett in conjunction with the National Council of Youth Sports (NCYS) have established a For the Kids: Operation Field Rescue hotline and Web site. Public officials, recreational organizations, amateur sports associations, and others are invited to register their interest by calling (561) 743-6408 or visiting www.fieldrescue.com
